RILIS has been successfully used in the production of radioactive beams at ISOLDE since 1994.  Since then multiple upgrades have been implemented, a schematic of the current laser system is shown in the lasers section of this introduction.  RILIS is now requested for more than 50% of the ISOLDE beamtime and clocked over 3000 hours of operation during 2012.  To support RILIS, there are several off-line (meaning no proton bombardment) testing and development facilities where laser ionization tests can be performed on stable isotopes.
